Duty Update Options
Update Mode
Update Mode can be either Add or Replace.
Add means that duties in the CSV file are merged into existing duties on
the DutyMan server.
Specifically
-
New duties in the CSV file are added to the server.
-
Existing duties in the CSV file (ie. duties that are already on the DutyMan server)
are updated as required.
A duty in the CSV file is deemed to exist on the DutyMan server if its Duty Date,
Event, Duty Type and Member Name match.
-
Duties that are on the DutyMan server but not in the CSV file are left as is.
Replace is the same as Add except duties that are on the DutyMan server
but not in the CSV file are deleted. In effect all existing duties are removed and
replaced but the reminder status of existing duties is retained.
Members can volunteer for unallocated duties
Yes means that all duties in the CSV file to which a member has
not been assigned are set to Swap Wanted.
Date Format
DutyMan accepts dates in upload files in two formats - dd/mm/yy and mm/dd/yy.
dd/mm/yy, for example 25/12/11, is used in Europe and much of the rest of
the world
mm/dd/yy, for example 12/25/11, is used mainly in the USA
DutyMan needs to know the format used in your file in order to interpret dates correctly:
for instance in order to decide whether 10/08/12 means 10th August 2012 (dd/mm/yy
format) or October 8th 2012 (mm/dd/yy format).
If you are in doubt as to which format to use try the one that you think is most
likely. DutyMan validates all dates and reports any that are invalid. If the dates
that DutyMan reports as invalid look OK to you then try again with the other date
format.
