Securing Your Data

The DutyMan database is backed up in its entirety frequently and to multiple locations. The objective of this backup is to secure the database against total loss, for instance as a result of a hard disk failure on the DutyMan web server. The backup is not suitable for restoring individual duty rosters.

This topic discusses techniques DutyMan administrators can employ to secure their own duty and member data.

The most common cause of data loss is operator error.
Always secure your data before carrying out major changes.
Keep the data you have secured in a known, safe place.

List of Members

Download the list of members with >Download >Members. You can restore your list of members by uploading a previously downloaded file.

Active Duty Roster

Download the duty roster with >Download >Duties >DutyMan Format. You can restore your duty roster by uploading a previously downloaded file.

Allocation Duty Roster and Duty Choices

Download with >Allocation >Downloads.

Settings

Keep a record of major settings in a safe place. Consider copying and pasting your sections of custom text into a word processor document or use screen shots.
