Field Mapping

The Field Map is a list of DutyMan field names each paired with its opposite number in the file downloaded from your Member Data Provider (MDP). It tells the synchronisation process where in the DutyMan database to store the information that is in that file.

Not every DutyMan field in the list has to be mapped but you do want to pair up essential ones like names, email address and possibly other contact details. Similarly some columns in the file from your MDP may not have a DutyMan equivalent.

The DutyMan fields in the map fall into three categories.

Standard

First Name
Last Name
Email Address
Phone
Phone 2

And if the Postal Addresses feature is enabled
Address 1-5
Postal Code
Country

These are names and contact details with usually direct equivalents from your Member Data Provider. The Field Map is prepopulated with appropriate values for your MDP. These can be changed if necessary.

Optional

Optimum Duty Type
Number of Duties

These DutyMan fields are unlikely to be available as standard in your MDP but you may be able to simulate them with custom fields. Note that Number of Duties can have only certain values. Optimum Duty Types may also be restricted depending on your DutyMan configuration.

Infos

DutyMan member infos can be mapped to custom fields from your MDP. Pairs of fields must have compatible data types and values. If an info and a custom field have the same names they are automatically paired.

Making Changes

You should review the field map on first use to ensure the default settings meet your requirements. There after you normally need to update it only if there are changes to your infos or custom fields.

To change the pairing of a DutyMan field, select a new MDP field name, or blank, from the drop down list. Save your changes.
