Implementing your own security
To implement a higher level of security than the DutyMan default, first place the link to your duty roster within a password-protected members-only area of your club or organisation's website. Choose a level of authentication for that area that you consider appropriate for your club or organisation's needs.
Then select the Verification code mandatory
option on the DutyMan administrator's >Set Up >Security and Passwords > More Passwords
page. Selecting this option protects the link by requiring it to include a Verification Code. The Verification Code is effectively a hard password set on the >Set Up >Security and Passwords > More Passwords
page.
If the correct Verification Code is not present in the link then the roster is displayed without
duties and names exactly as if the Show duties and names when not logged in
option were set to Yes.
Example of a DutyMan url with a Verification Code
http://www.dutyman.biz/dm.aspx?id=X0000000&vcode=ThisIs#1Code
Note that a Verification Code should be used only on a password-protected web page.
Without password protection the code is visible to all visitors to that page.
Verification code mandatory overrides Show duties and names when not logged
in. This allows the duty roster to be displayed without names outside a password-protected
area and with names within the password-protected area.
Verification code mandatory is also implemented for embedded directories.
